Kumukahi provides a platform to honor the foundations of legacy dances (dances inherited from previous generations) and the stories that come with these dances, and the work of you and your hālau in upholding the dance expressions stewarded by your Kumu.
Our festival celebrates the spirit of hula and allows the spirit to dance –without too much focus on precision. Our reactionary panel react and may join in on your presentation – whether it be chanting or singing from their seats or joining your haumana on stage.
